You’re probably wondering why I am throwing so may showers these days? It just so happens that I am at the stage of life where so many close friends are starting to grow their families. What has been fun is taking the personality of each mom-to-be and incorporating their taste and their nursery theme into the shower. Most recently, I was a hostess for a Dinosaur themed shower and we had the most fun with this theme!
Invites: The invites we ordered from Etsy and printed them ourselves and mailed them out. (Note: The random blue box is where I edited out my friend’s contact info and address).
Guestbook: We purchased a very beautifully illustrated children’s book, Dinosaur Pet, as the guest book.
Food: My friend Emily and I had a blast planning the food for this shower. Follow along for our menu of dinosaur treats.
Dino-Nuts: One of this mom-to-be’s main cravings had been donuts. We bought a styrofoam board and styrofoam cone to make our own mini donut wall and donut hole tower. Then we incorporated some greenery and a few plastic dinos and voila.
Fossil Dig: An easy crowdpleaser is always PuppyChow. I made a batch of this and threw in a few yogurt covered pretzels as well for our “Fossil Dig”.
Stegosaurus Sandwiches: I had too much fun making these guys. Sandwich #1 was cream cheese and cucumber with little cucumber slices as the “spikes”. Sandwich #2 was pimento cheese with small pieces of red bell pepper as the “spikes”. I ordered this dinosaur sandwich cutter on Amazon to make them. These were a hit!
Dino Eggs: I reused my “field” from the previous Sports Shower that I threw and repurposed it for Dino Eggs. These are delicious sausage balls that we just placed on white sticks and stuck into the “grass” and of corse used more miniature plastic dinosaurs for effect.
Dino Nuggets: These are a nostalgic childhood favorite so we could not pass up on the novelty of serving dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets. We purchased decorative appetizer cups and filled them with a variety of sauces: barbecue, ranch and honey mustard. Then we placed them on a stick and laid them across the cups for display.
Herbivores: Lastly, we set out a nice cheese board and veggie tray for the “Herbivores” in the group. As a fun way to personalize the shower, we made a letter “P” in the veggies in honor of the baby on the way – Paxton.
Drinks: We set out a drink station on a separate table that included a mimosa bar and other beverage options along with a few more dino decor touches.
Other Decor: I purchased these adorable Dinosaur napkins from Day Dream Society. We also had a fun diaper cake, custom banner, floral and other decor elements mixed in throughout the party.
Party Favors: We ordered dinosaur footie socks and placed them in a cellophane bag with a tag that read “Thanks for Stomping By”.
